Galeamopus

Ga- le-am o-pus – “needs helmet”

Galeamopus was originally thought to be a Diplodocus when it was first discovered in 1924.  However, recent research has revealed it belongs to a different genus.  Its name Galeamopus was given to this dinosaur because its skull is brittle and thus this dinosaur needed a helmet.

The herbivorous Galeamopus lived during the Late Jurassic period about 155 million years ago.
