Confuciusornis

Kun-FYOO-shus-OR-nis – “Confucius bird”

Confuciusornis  dates from the Late Jurassic (150 million years ago) of northeast China. The dinosaurian ancestry of birds is evident from the mix of primitive and advanced features in this animal. The fingers are long with sharp claws (primitive), while the feathers are modified for flight (advanced).
