Compsognathus

KOMP-so-NATH-us – “Delicate jaw”

Compsognathus  lived during the Late Jurassic (150 million years ago) of Germany and France. Known from only two specimens, this animal is among the smallest of known dinosaurs. The original example was found in the same deposits as was the earliest known bird,  Archaeopteryx , and provides a good comparison between the two similarly sized dinosaurian cousins.
